James offers SOUND EDUCATIONAL MARKETING, TEACHING and THEMED EVENT experience
Prior to founding QPoint Marketing Inc. in 1997, James worked as a customer service representative at the flagship Sam the Record Man Store on Yonge ST in Toronto. Next, James co created and marketed themed music events in a variety of contexts such as The Empire Dancecebar, Catch 22, The Factory, RPM, OZ the Nightclub, Limelight, Boom Boom Room, Fat City, Whiskey Saigon, CN Tower, Ontario Science Centre, Marine Terminal 28, and Aircraft Hangars at the Toronto Island Airport. The music, the atmosphere, and the marketing of these themed events were tailored to meet the needs of different target audiences.
Next, after founding QPoint Marketing Inc. in 1997, offering marketing services, James focused on Event Marketing and Educational Marketing for artists at Record Labels such as Sony Music, Island, A&M, TVT, and Universal Music.
From 2009 to 2014 at DURHAM COLLEGE, James developed and delivered courses such as: Communications, Marketing, Entertainment Marketing, Promotions and Publicity, The History of Popular Music, The Brand Experience and Adventures in Ideas. In 2013 at GEORGIAN COLLEGE, James taught Marketing.
In 2012 at YORK UNIVERSITY, James designed, developed and delivered a lecture called "Marketing Music As Experience". This lively lecture discussed the impact of James' contributions to the history of popular music in Toronto during the 1990s, highlighting connections between music and marketing to create resonating experiences for audiences.
In 2014 at RYERSON UNIVERSITY, James designed, developed and delivered a presentation that explored the use of immersive technology in Architecture.
Since 2014 in a variety of contexts, James teaches about Communication, Marketing and the History of Popular Music.
From 2020 to 2025 at CANADORE COLLEGE James taught Communication and Marketing using music as a teaching tool.
Via QPoint®Marketing Inc., James as a visiting Professor (traveling teacher), continues to teach about Communication, Marketing and the History of Popular Music through themed learning events outside of the College context.

James earned a B.A., HONS. COMMUNICATION STUDIES at York University through study of Communication, Presentation Skills and Voice, Media and Society, Advertising, Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, Popular Music as Communication, The Science of Music, The History of Popular Music, and Electronica, DJs and Dance Floor Culture.
Additionally, James earned a TEACHING AND TRAINING ADULTS CERTIFICATE at Georgian College.
